27 MARCH 2020, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ is putting another safety and security layer in its bid to make Its ports COVID-19 free including the entire port community.

Starting Friday, the PPA is imposing the accomplishment of an entry form for all persons transacting with the agency. The entry protocol aims to determine the movement of its employees and the transacting public in the last 7 days.

18 MARCH 2020, MANILA- Heeding the call for an unimpeded cargo movement Ìýto and from the ports of Manila and the entire Luzon as well as the movement of the accompanying crew and personnel of the transiting cargoes, the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ issued a memo circularÌý suspendingÌý the earlierÌý orderÌý the agency has issued on entry and withdrawal of cargoes.

20 MARCH 2020, MANILA—Taking the cue from the President's pronouncement to mitigate the effect of the Luzon-wide quarantine to workers, the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ has releasedÌý in advance the month’s salary of its employees including that ofÌý its Job Order (JO) and Contract of Service (CoS) personnel.

11 MARCH 2020, MANILA—In its bid to reduce the risk of transmission through ports, the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ intensifies its measures against the deadly Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

On top of the usual thermal scanning of passengers and port personnel in all ports, the PPA has mandated all its Port Management Offices to make available to passengers, port users and other stakeholders necessary disinfecting supply such as anti-bacterial solutions and sanitizers.

24 FEBRUARY 2020, MANILA—For the second straight year, the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ scores big in the annual port user’s satisfaction survey particularly on the aspect of integrity.

The 2019 survey conducted by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) involving the various port users nationwide showed that respondents to the survey gave the highest satisfaction rating of 4.43, equivalent to Very Satisfied, to the integrity of the PPA on top of its port facilities and services rendered.

19 FEBRUARY 2020, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ books its highest income in history, only 3 years into the term of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

The 2019 PPA net income has almost doubled the income registered in the first full year of management and operations of the current administration in 2017.

PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago said that the strong financial performance of the PPA is due to the various changes being implemented by the current administration led by no less than the President and the Secretary of Transportation.

4 FEBRUARY 2020, MANILA—In order not to disrupt the international cargo supply chain, Philippine ports remain open to all ships even from those originating from China and its Special Administrative Regions (SARs).

The only condition is the non-disembarkation of vessel crew and no visitors allowed while docked in any PPA-controlled port or at anchorage.

3 FEBRUARY 2020, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ further tightened its noose in all ports, banning the disembarkation of vessel crews while docked at any PPA-controlled ports.

PPA likewise canceled all visitation privileges given to relatives of Filipino seafarers to board as well as boarding privileges of non-government organizations extending emotional and spiritual help to seafarers.

31 JANUARY 2020, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ is adopting stringent prevention measures against the deadly Novel Coronavirus (nCoV) encompassing all PPA-controlled ports nationwide after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the first nCoV case Thursday.

PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago has directed all port managers to double the measures from general thermal scanning to individual checks if a passenger reaches a certain body temperature level.

02 JANUARY 2020, MANILA—After a runner-up finish in 2018, the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ has been officially recognized as the ‘FOI Champion’ by the Presidential Communications Operations Office in the 2019 Freedom of Information (FOI) awards for Government-owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs).

PPA received the award on 12 December 2019.

The Authority bested other GOCCs led by two-time FOI Champion for GOCCs winner National Housing Authority and the Authority of the Freeport of Bataan.
