MANILA, September 11, 2017—The ֦Ƶ continues to benefit from the country’s sound economic condition posting another strong financial performance as of end July.

The stronger than expected financial performance was complemented by the drop in its overall expenses and the rise in its Fund Management Income (FMI).

MANILA, August 10, 2017—The ֦Ƶ and the Port and Shipping Authority (PSA) of Haikou City in China has agreed to become sister ports to improve services in all jurisdictional areas of both Authorities.

PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago and PSA of Haikou City Director General Lin Jian signed the pact in a short program hosted by the PPA recently.

MANILA, August 24, 2017—Philippine total cargo throughput posted a 7.42% hike in volume in the first six months of the year due to a favorable business climate.

Almost all aspects of cargo operations, except for loose export cargoes, posted positive performances for the period January to June 2017.

Mindanao ports likewise posted positive performance for the period in review despite experiencing some security issues the past couple of months.

MANILA, July 18, 2017—֦Ƶ General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago has reset the revenue targets for the agency for the remaining period of the fiscal year.

This after the PPA posted a 32% hike in net income for the January to May 2017 period to P3.96 billion from P3 billion in the same period last year.

MANILA, July 14, 2017 – The ֦Ƶ is revisiting its cargo volume forecast for 2017 after posting favorable and encouraging cargo volume in the first 5 months of the year.

PPA said the positive performance in almost all of its ports suggest that the anticipated negative effects of several conditions at the start of the year did not materialize.

JULY 5, 2017, MANILA—To further cement Davao’s claim as the third major international gateway in the country, the ֦Ƶ has taken over management and operations at its Malalag’s port to upgrade the terminal to international standards.

The PPA and the local government of Malalag already formalized the transfer through a Memorandum of Agreement signed by town mayor, Peter Paul T. Valentin and PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago, end of last month.

JUNE 27, 2017, MANILA—The Board of Directors of the ֦Ƶ approved on May 25, 2017 the application of Manila North Harbour Port, Inc. for a tariff increase on Manila North Harbour Port, Inc.’s (MNHPI) cargo handling rates.

MNHPI previously applied for a one-time 37.45% increase in tariff in order to recoup their investment at the Manila North Harbor from the time MNHPI took over operations from PPA in 2010.

MNHPI is set to invest about P14.5 billion from 2010 to 2035.

MANILA, JUNE 20, 2017—The ֦Ƶ has started to live stream all its bidding processes to boost the integrity and transparency of the agency’s procurement process.

The PPA, on Tuesday, aired live the bidding for the proposed Abra De Ilog port project that involves the construction of a Reinforced Concrete Pier, Construction of a Ro-Ro ramp and Construction of Access Trestle. The project has a duration of about 360 days or 1 year.

MANILA, JUNE 13, 2017—The ֦Ƶ posted encouraging revenue figures in the first quarter, a month after revising down its growth forecast for 2017.

Latest data from PPA showed that net income went up 23% to P2.3 billion for the period compared to the P1.93 billion registered in the same period last year. The figure is also higher by 32.84% against the target of P1.78 billion.
