07 JULY 2022, MANILA—Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista made a surprise visit to the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ on Thursday to familiarize himself with the operations of all agencies under the Department of Transportation.

Bautista revealed to PPA officials his plans to further develop the port industry and enhance the benefits to shippers and travelers.

22 APRIL 2022, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ has extended the grant of financial assistance to agencies and organizations involved in the relief and reconstruction efforts to areas devastated by tropical storm Odette using the ports directly under the Authority.

Pursuant to PPA Memorandum Circular 02-2022, the government share on Ro-Ro Terminal Fees (RRTF) collected from vehicles and rolling cargoes in all PPA ports shall be waived for the period March 29, 2022 until 30 June 2022.Ìý

21 MARCH 2022, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ reported a P43.98 billion total contribution to the Government in the form of taxes paid and dividend remittances for the period 2016 to 2021.

The amount is P12.93 billion or 41.64% higher compared to the total contribution paid to Government from 2010 to 2015.

The state-owned agency also reported a P19.87 billion total expense for the completion of 240 port projects from 2016 to 2021, which form part of the 585 port projects completed under the Build-Build-Build program of the current administration.

24 JANUARY 2022, MANILA—The Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines (CTAP) has lauded the move of the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ in implementing a single document serving as Accreditation, Permit to Operate and vehicle pass in all ports controlled by the agency as well as private ports.

CTAP, considered as the biggest trucker’s group in the country, said the move is in accordance with the policy direction of the government particularly in the ease of doing business in the country.

23 DECEMBER 2021, MANILA – The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ has extended financial and operational support to agencies and organizations now involved in relief and reconstruction efforts in areas devastated by Typhoon Odette.

PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago, under Memorandum Circular (MC) 23 dated 21 December 2021, directed all port managers, terminal operators, cargo handling operators, and shipping companies to give vehicles, equipment, people, and cargoes involved in the relief operations loading and unloading priority.

20 JANUARY 2021, MANILA--The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ, in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-NCR (DSWD-NCR), aids about 58 Badjao-families currently stranded at the Manila North Harbor due to some changes in the existing COVID-19 health and safety protocol being implemented to include the no vax no ride policy.

02 DECEMBER 2021, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) are once again unveiling another flagship seaport project forming part of the Build-Build-Build initiative of the Duterte administration, seven months before the President ends his term.

22 NOVEMBER 2021, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ is taking more advanced Climate Change mitigation initiatives after a series of successful measures were implemented for the past 5 years.

With this, PPA is now prioritizing its ‘Green Port’ initiatives patterned before the Green Port Awards System of the APEC Port Services Network (APSN) as it moves forward towards more sustainable port operations.

18 NOVEMBER 2021, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) are set to unveil on Thursday another eight seaport development projects in the provinces of Mindoro worth P754 million.

The completed seaport development projects are expected to enhance and sustain efficiency at Mindoro’s ‘food highway’ resulting in faster movement of the supply chain and eventually lowering the market prices, particularly essential products.

06 NOVEMBER 2021, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ is reducing the processing fees for all Permit To Operate (PTO) applications filed by transport service providers before the end of the year to ease the burden on the providers as the economy transitions to the ‘New Normal’.
