MANILA, JULY 9, 2015—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ posted a significant hike in its net income for the first four months of the year due mainly to the hike in cargo traffic in majority of its controlled ports.

Latest data from PPA showed that net income increased by 22.41% to P2.54 billion from P2.08 billion posted in the same period last year. Against the target of P1.36 billion, the actual figure is also higher by 86.47%.

MANILA, APRIL 10, 2015—Several business groups from Belgium is looking at business opportunities in the Philippines not only in the port industry but in all aspects of trade in the country.

The members of the Flanders-Belgium, headed by Trade Commissioner Mia Santamaria-Abela, visited the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ, the Manila International Container Terminal and the Manila South Harbor on 27 March 2015 in search for their potential partners.

MANILA, MARCH 24, 2015—Port users, particularly the sea traveling public, can expect tighter security checks starting this week in all PPA-controlled ports ahead of the summer and Lenten breaks, according to ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ General Manager Juan C. Sta. Ana.

Sta. Ana said they are expecting a large number of passengers to flock the ports to take advantage of the break from school and their work.

MARCH 22, 2015, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ posted a 15% hike in net income despite the Manila port congestion, which bugged the port for the majority of 2014.

Latest data from the state-owned agency showed that net income after tax reached P4.26 billion from P3.70 billion posted in 2013.

The actual figure is also higher by about 16% compared to the target net income of P3.67 billion or a difference of about P582 million.

MARCH 19, 2015, MANILA—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ and the Port of San Francisco are strengthening their sister port agreement after delegates from the Port of San Francisco Commission inspected the Manila Ports early this week to observe how port operations are conducted in the Philippines.

FEBRUARY 27, 2015, MANILA—Philippine cargo volume went up 5% in 2014 despite the so-called Manila port congestion.

Latest data from ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ showed that volume rose about 5% to 211.20 million metric tons (MMT) for the entire 2014 period from 201.91 MMT posted in the same period last year.

FEBRUARY 20, 2015, MANILA—Transport undersecretary Julianito Bucayan, Jr. stressed the government and private sector partnership in addressing bottleneck issues clouting the Philippines.

JANUARY 14, 2015, MANILA—The Philippine Ports Authority announced that Philippine ports will remain open during the entire duration of the Papal visit slated for January 15-19, 2015, except for the Manila South Harbor (MSH).

PPA has already advised its stakeholders to take additional measures to reduce the commercial impact of the slowdown in operations to give way to the security measures being put into place to guarantee the Pope’s safety while on Philippine soil.

MANILA, FEBRUARY 3, 2014—The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ posted higher net income in the first 10 months of 2013, enabling the agency to donate P20 million to Yolanda-ravaged areas.

Latest data showed that net income reached P4.87 billion in the January-October 2013 period or about 58.2% higher compared to the P3.08 billion registered in the same period of 2012.

According to PPA General Manager Juan C. Sta. Ana, the rise in net income was due to the constant decrease in the total expenses, which has been dragging the agencies revenue generation measures the past couple of months.
