PPA EXPANDS HEALTHCARE BENEFITS FOR MORE THAN 2,000 EMPLOYEES

PPA expands healthcare support for its employees through HMO coverage, strengthening its commitment to employee welfare and well-being.

11 AUGUST 2026 – The ֦Ƶ continues to strengthen its commitment to employee welfare by expanding access to healthcare benefits for its workforce. Through its accredited employees’ association, PANTALAN, the National Executive Board (PANTALAN NEB), with the assistance of the Human Resource Management Department (HRMD), today, August 11, 2026, signed a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) contract with MEDOCare Health Systems, Inc.

Effective today, August 11, the HMO program covers 2,092 PPA employees, including regular and Contract of Service (COS) personnel, as well as their qualified dependents. The program provides broader access to healthcare services through MEDOCare’s nationwide network of more than 10,000 specialist doctors and over 1,000 affiliated hospitals and clinics.

PPA General Manager Jay Santiago welcomed the initiative, noting that providing employees with access to healthcare is part of the agency's commitment to supporting the people behind its operations.

"Kahit po may mga bagyo tuloy-tuloy ang operasyon ng PPA, our employees give so much of themselves in serving the Filipino people, kaya nararapat lamang na alagaan din natin ang kanilang health and well-being. Kapag healthy, well-cared for, at supported ang ating workforce, mas nagiging matatag din ang PPA at mas mahusay nating napaglilingkuran ang ating mga kababayan,” GM Santiago said.

The HMO coverage is aligned with the Medical Allowance Benefit under the Compensation and Position Classification System (CPCS) and the authority granted by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) to PPA to implement the benefit. This initiative complements PPA’s continuing efforts to promote employee health and well-being through preventive and community-oriented programs.

The agency also continues to implement its Annual Medical and Physical Examination (AMPE) for PPA Head Office personnel as part of its preventive healthcare initiatives, encouraging employees to be more proactive in monitoring and maintaining their health.

Earlier in July 2026 for its 52nd Anniversary, PPA conducted a bloodletting activity to encourage voluntary blood donation among employees and stakeholders, promoting a culture of community service while raising awareness of the importance of blood donation. Through these initiatives, PPA continues to invest not only in the infrastructure and systems that support the country’s ports, but also in the people who keep them moving.
